Club Development
Our Club Today
Young Irelands GAA Club represents the parish of Gowran which includes the villages of Gowran and Dungarvan. With new housing developments both in the village and rural townlands the parish population has increased substantially in recent years. The enrolment in the parish national school has increased substantially in the past five years. This increase in pupil numbers directly reflects the increase in our juvenile membership.
We currently cater for
- 6 Adult Hurling, Football & Camogie Teams
- Over 20 Juvenile Hurling, Football & Camogie Teams
The Future...
Although the old Club facilities had served the Community well over the last 40 years they where seriously over-used. As is evident from this overview the club was at a crossroads in its development and there was a requirement to provide facilities which will serve us adequately into the future.
Suitable land was purchased by the club. This land is located at Castlellis and is adjacent to the local national school. A planning application was lodged with Kilkenny County Council in May 2012 with planning permission granted in 2013..

- New vehicular and pedestrian entrance from Chapel Road – complete
