The Young Irelands U-15s boys reached the Semi-Final of the County Roinn A John West Feile competition following two games in quick succession on Sunday morning.
Gowran hosted the group involving Young Irelands, Erins Own Castlecomer & O’Loughin Gaels & they won both of their matches.
Their first game was against Erins Own & they won 1-5 to 0-3 having led 1-3 to 0-2 at half-time.
Shortly afterwards, they hosted O’Loughlin Gaels & won 2-6 to 0-4 to set-up a Semi-Final clash against James Stephens which was played in the MW Hire Centre, Dunmore.
James Stephens led 0-3 to 0-1 at half-time, before taking control in the second-half as they ran out 2-11 to 0-1 winners.
The Village defeated Dunnamaggin 2-10 to 0-3 in the Final.
Well done to the Young Irelands Boys & Management on acquitting themselves well in the Feile & very best wishes in the months ahead in the League & Championship.
MINORS MAKE IT TWO FROM TWO
The Young Irelands Minors made it two wins from two last Tuesday night with a convincing 4-15 to 2-8 victory away to Danesfort.
They will now host Erins Own Castlecomer this Tuesday Evening in Gowran at 7pm.
Meanwhile, the Minor B Team are scheduled to host Carrickshock this coming Thursday(Holy Thursday) in Gowran also at 7pm.
PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPLETE HAT-TRICK OF VICTORIES
The Gowran Primary School hurling team made it a hat-trick of victories following a 5-4 to 3-2 victory against St. Patricks De La Salle last Wednesday. They are top of the table after three rounds of matches & are the only team with a 100% record.
