Well done to our U6 players who participated in the annual Mooncoin U6 tournament Saturday morning. Following a team parade, led by a piper, Young Irelands took to Pitch 4 to meet Shamrocks GAA Club . A high scoring game with a goal giving the Gowran boys a victory at full time.
Next up was De La Salle, Waterford. This was a physical, tough battle with a lot of injuries throughout the game. The Young Irelands men were 5:3 down at half time but a rip-roaring second half saw the boys rally to win one goal up.
Our final game was against hosts Mooncoin. This was a game of two halves with Mooncoin dominating the first half but the Boys in Red resurgent in the second half .
Our eleven strong panel were awarded medals and treats for their efforts. For some it’s their first medal and hopefully the first of many.
Many thanks to the coaches; Tom, Denis, Darragh, Tommy and Karina and to the parents for making the journey to Mooncoin. Thanks to Mooncoin GAA for inviting us to such a well organised tournament. What a wonderful experience for our young players.
These U6s are out again next Sunday, Aug. 28th in the O’Loughlin Gaels U6 tournament.
