U12 Young Irelands Tournament 2022

Date

The U12 Young Irelands Tournament 2022 was held on Saturday, May 21st after a two year break.

Six teams; Mullinavat, Mooncoin, Piltown, Danesfort, Ballyhale Shamrocks and Young Irelands entertained the crowd with superb hurling, tight games, super scores, gasping saves and top-notch skill throughout the 8 games played.

Mullinavat and Piltown qualified for the Shield Final with Piltown coming out victorious.

Danesfort and home-side Young Irelands contested the Cup Final and although tight throughout, Danesfort edged ahead in the final ten minutes giving them a resounding lead and success.

Today’s tournament was in honour of the late Jim Carter and the Carter family were present in force. Charlie presented the teams with their silverware and sliotars assisted by Kieran Carter.

Many thanks to the Tournament Committee; Eoghan, Gary, Dick, Stephen, Ciarán, Karina, Fergal and Peter.

Thanks also to our sponsors who supported this tournament.

Huge thanks to Deirdre and the shop assistants 🍫🍬🍭 and to Liam and his crew who did the barbecue 🍔.

Thanks to Tony; the piper 🎶, and to our referees; Colin and Eamon.

Sincere thanks to our visiting teams; thanks for making the early start and for making today possible.

Finally and most importantly; thanks to the 120 players who partook today. It was heartwarming to see you parade out of the tunnel this morning and the following games you played were so enjoyable to watch. Well done to you all 👏

We look forward to 2023 🇦🇹
