The annual CBS blitz, once again hosted in Dicksboro is exceptionally well run; the matches are played to precision timing, the pitches are well marked, the programme is a great read and the hosting of teas/coffees is exceptional.
The Gowran team were in the afternoon slot; pitted against Dicksboro Maroon, Graigue Ballycallan and Barrow Rangers.
The U11 Young Irelands team; fresh from the winter break- were quick off the mark in their first game against the ‘Boro. This was a tight game – competitive and sporting, with great displays of scoring ability from both sides. Gowran took the edge however – coming out winners by a 2 point margin.
Next were a strong Kilmanagh side who had also won their first game against Tullaroan. Both teams were fired up for this game, the hurling was hard, the scores harder to put on the board as both goalies were on their game. Ballycallan nudged it in the end beating our boys by 2 points.
Down, but not out, neighbours, Paulstown were up last. Gowran were too strong for the Barrow boys and won this game formidably.
“Two out of three ain’t bad”.
Many thanks to the U11 mentors and players for a great afternoons hurling.
The boys were gifted with goodie bags containing a trophy that also doubles as a remote/phone holder.
What a wonderful start to the season- “Ná dean nós agus ná bris nós”.
